City Licensing: Fees and Requirements

SPECIAL UPDATE: Please be advised that the city of San Antonio no longer requires pets to be microchipped for city registration. Dr. Carter feels very strongly against this, and believes that pet owner education, spaying/neutering and microchipping in combination is the first and most fundamental step towards making San Antonio a no-kill shelter system. If you agree, please voice your concerns to the city of San Antonio and Animal Care Services.

License Requirements

All dogs and cats 4 months of age and older in the City of San Antonio and in unincorporated Bexar County are required to have a current rabies vaccination and be licensed with the City.
